I am a mess

"Mess" is the best word I could come up with that represents the opposite of "put together," but feel free to come up with your own terminology.

I am probably one of the bigger messes that I know. It is fairly often that I put a shirt on, fresh from the drawer, and have to immediately throw it in the hamper because I find it to be dirty. I have no sense of style, I don't own a hairdryer, and I only wear makeup when I'm going out to the bars. I dress in business casual attire for school, and I used to keep a pair of heels in my locker so that I could change into them when I got to school. But that got tired and instead I just started wearing whatever I wore to school that day - flip flops, decrepit Uggs, red and white rain boots, whatever.

The thing is, I'm kind of okay with not being put together. I get a lot more sleep because I don't spend as much time getting ready in the morning, I don't spend as much money on clothes as most girls, and I like to think that it's all part of my personality.

When I wake up in the morning, sometimes (rarely) my curls look perfect. Other times, my hair looks like some small animal crawled onto my head and died. This is sort of the risk you run when you shower at night and go to sleep with your hair wet, I suppose. Anyway. On the bad hair days, I do one of 2 things: I either put my hair in a ponytail and pretend that somehow makes it look NOT terrible, or I just decide that I'm going for the windswept look and run with it. I doubt anyone buys the windswept business. When I decide not to make my hair curly and it ends up looking like a big puffball, I call it "bohemian shaggy." Not sure if anyone buys that either.

The point is, I don't think I could be put together if I tried. And I actually don't have a problem with that. Because I would much rather get compliments on the very few times where I actually look awesome (usually by accident) than have people notice when I decide to dress down for the day.

Normally this is where I'd say something about a pair of sweatpants waiting for me so I could go run some errands, but seeing as Boston has decided to be 90 degrees today (SERIOUSLY, BOSTON?), sweats are definitely not in order.

No sweats today. It's tank top weather! Also, I always think you look cute in every picture I see you in.

I dress in anything I want when I go to school, perks of being an insomniac and always being overslept. I only dress good when I go out. Haha. Totally feel you on this.

I spend ages getting ready for things and yet never manage to look that well put together. Things always look different in my head than they do actually ON me! It's very annoying. I SHOULD be well groomed but I'm not!

Dude I was so having those "I don't care enough about how I dress" thoughts this morning, when I rolled out of bed and threw on a sundress w/ flip flops and threw my hair in a pony, and my coworker walked out looking like she spent an hour getting ready. While I kind of wish I did that, I don't have the patience. And I like my sleep.

I can't imagine how exhausting being high maintenance would be. Blah.
