Pop quiz!! And a contest

Thursday, December 15, 2011
A few weeks ago I started a tradition, the backstory of which I won’t go into. Each day, I pull up the wikipedia entry on a random thing of my choosing. It could be a person, a place, an event, whatever. I read it and try to learn whatever I can about that subject, and then I synthesize it into a nice summary email and send it off to my friend/wifer Julie so that she too can learn about random things.

To commemorate the milestone of 25 wikipedia lessons, I gave Julie a pop quiz – one question for each lesson. The quiz appears below. If you dare, take the quiz and comment or email me your answers (arielleblogs at gmail). DO NOT CHEAT PLEASE THAT IS NO FUN. If you don’t know something, and I guarantee that you won’t know everything, be creative!

If anyone actually does this (doubtful?), I’ll send whoever scores the highest some kind of prize. Later on I’ll post all the correct answers, and possibly also Julie’s answers because they're awesome, if not always correct. Ready? Go!

I'm not even going to try. I played 90s Trivial Pursuit with Dave, Andy and Maria last night and failed miserably.

Oh, it's ON! I was originally going to send you only ridiculous and sarcastic answers, but then I started knowing actual answers, so now I'm going to send you a mixture of both.

Also, I would love to get that type of e-mail everyday. I realize that this type of service probably already exists, but I feel like yours would be way funnier.

1. From the choices available to me, I choose Prussia. But ultimately, Germany won this bitch.

2. My guess is Marc Antony. I know he was Caesar's drinking buddy but I don't remember if he knew...

3. She was a spy.

4. Ahhh, crap. I have to use deductive reasoning here. "Dub-step"...Dub sounds like something dancy or hip hop. How about "breakdance".

5. He was temporarily the champ for a few years I think. Anyway, George Foreman took it from him.

6. Zimbabwe and...dunno. Dunno the song part either.

7. Its in Europe, its heavily populated by Germans, and every time I hear that name I think of the (highly underrated) movie A Knight's Tale!

8. The miracle, if I remember right, was that there was apparently only a few days worth of fuel to burn on the menorah, but it lasted 8 days. Thus, miracle.

9. Top, bottom, up, down, and I do not recall the rest.

10. No idea.

11. I have no idea how that sport is so popular.

12. No clue. I know its not math related and I'm certain it has nothing to do with science.

13. Jigga. Hova. Jay Z. My man.

14. Light bulb, though his resume is far more extensive than just that.

15. Great Red Spot. Its a really big storm.

16. No clue.

17. I'm pretty sure he wasn't a brewer. Don't know Julie's beef with him.

18. Ha- can I use Urbandictionary instead?

19. Hotlanta

20. Unclear. I don't think I know who that is.

21. Nose and beard

22. Ack, why don't I know this? For jokes sake I'm tempted to say brothel. But its probably a book club since reading was the cool thing to do among the elites in them days.

23. Uh, no idea

24. Another one I should know. Third?

25. Ha, no idea

Yeah I can't answer this. And that itself is SAD. But I continue to kick ass at Trivial Pursuit Pop Culture.
