Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. Since I'm at home for the summer and without a gym membership and HOLY CRAP EVERY BLOGGER AND THEIR BLOGMOTHER IS TALKING ABOUT THIS DVD, I decided I would buy it.
I started out at level 1 because, you know, I'm as out of shape as the rest of you. Or so I thought, until I reached the end of the workout and was all, ".....that was it?"
I decided not to get all huffy puffy about not being impressed with this workout until the next day when I would inevitably be sore and karma would bite me in the ass. But no. I wasn't sore. Not even a little. And I continue to not be.
To be fair, I definitely break a good sweat whenever I do this workout, and there are still some things in level 1 that I can't do (I always have to resort to doing push-ups on my knees about halfway through, as one example). I just don't understand how so many people are all "WAH WAH WAHHHHH JILLIAN KILLS ME LEVEL 1 MAKES ME WANT TO CRAWL IN A HOLE AND DIE IN MUSCLE-Y PAINNNN!"
To clarify, before doing the Shred for the first time on June 1, I had probably worked out less than 15 times in all of 2009. If you count volleyball games, playing flag football and softball on occasion, let's give it a generous average of 6 times a month. So don't get on my case about me just pretending to not be in shape when I really am.
Anyhoo, tomorrow I'm moving up to level 2 because...I just feel like it. If there are any marked differences, I will let you crazy kids know.

You just wait :) I've only done what is available to me On Demand, but still.
So I totally succumbed to 30 Day Shred. I have mixed reviews on it. Probably because I don't 'shred' every day because I play sports 4-5 nights a week (don't judge me). But I think it's great on the days I'm not workin' out or playing sports.
I did this video. I didn't find the first level too hard, but they definitely get more difficult. And level 3 really too it out of me because she introduces plyometrics (jump training). That shit is h.a.r.d. but it will really make you feel like you did something super productive. But after I did the 3 levels, I haven't gone back to it.
Jillian has another workout that I prefer, called 'No More Trouble Zones' which I do pretty frequently. It is great. Also, (I know you are probably like woah - Jillian overload) I just started reading her book "Master You Metabolism" and it makes a lot of sense. It is all about getting your hormones in check so you don't have to kill yourself at the gym. I'll probably post about it when I'm done - so look out for that.
Good luck!
