Because everyone loves a little stress

First of all, BIG NEWS!

I bought a domain! Booyah! The address of this blog is now www.iamnotthemermaid.com

Wonderful, right? I have always secretly hated the name "More Than A Mermaid." I thought it sucked and don't know why I picked it. Not the Mermaid is 100 times better. And now it matches my Twitter.

Second piece of BIG NEWS:

I'm moving.

"Arielle, didn't you just move?"

"Yes, yes I did."

My roommates and I have decided to move into the apartment directly above ours. It just got redone so it is nice and shiny and new. The price is the same and it gets way more light. Amazing.

The downside of this is that we decided on this move a few days ago. And we have another few days to complete it. Naturally, the Jewish holidays fell last weekend and this weekend, taking out the bulk of time that I could have used to transport my stuff upstairs. And of course I have plans every night this week (yes, I'm sitting here blogging when I could be moving but it's 11:30pm so...I don't feel like lugging crap right now).

Oh and also, I'm getting the flu. You know when you wake up one day feeling a little bit icky and you just know that in a day or 2 it's going to be a full blown sickfest? I'm right there. All day today I thought I was hungover (I was, at least in the morning, oops) until I realized that my body ached not because of the shots I had yesterday, but because my immune system is about to shut down.

NICE. Good job, life. Way to keep it together.

Dave Grohl is a beast

Thursday, September 29, 2011
The other day, I was finally able to cross another band off my "must see in concert" list. And as you probably realize, this band was the Foo Fighters.

I expected this concert to be amazing. And it was. But while I've been to a lot of amazing concerts, it's pretty rare that I see a frontman as completely ridiculous as Dave Grohl. The man is a BEAST.

First of all, this was one of the longest concerts I've ever been to. Their set was about 3 hours, including a 40 minute encore. At no point in this 3 hours did Dave Grohl exude any level of energy below that of a puppy. On red bull. If you were to give red bull to a dog, which you probably shouldn't.

At one point, my concert buddy Brian said, "I have no idea how he can walk, play guitar, and headbang all at the same time." It was pretty incredible, the headbanging. I've never seen so much of it. And it didn't seem to get in the way of anything. He had amazing hairography, as they say on Glee.

I think there's some rule against talking about the Foo Fighters and Glee in the same blog post. Apologies.

Halfway through the show, Dave Grohl's shirt was completely, 100% soaked in sweat. His hair was stringy. And yet he still rocked on like a fucking badass.

Another thing? THE MAN DOES NOT AGE. At one point, Krist Novoselic (let's not pretend I had any clue how to spell that before Googling it) came out to join the Foo Fighters for a song. For those who don't recognize the name (full disclosure: I didn't), he was the other guy in Nirvana. The one who wasn't Dave Grohl or Kurt Cobain. And he looked OLD. He was balding and wearing some dorky outfit and I told Brian that he looked like an aging scientist.

And then you have this guy:

Bad picture, but you can see how he does NOT look super old.

I am totally impressed. And while rock stars don't typically do it for me (remember this post about how skinny they all seem to be?), nor have I ever thought this about Dave Grohl before, I would definitely tap that if given the opportunity (call me!). Rawr.

Life is good

Did you guys know that I have a boyfriend? Well, I do. And he's hot. Proof:

No, I am not behind this Twitter account and so no, this is not like Clueless where Cher sends herself flowers to make herself look and feel loved. This is my real Twitter boyfriend who is hot and tall and Jewish and never says "LOL" and who tweets about things like making me hangover breakfast. It's true love, y'all. And look at those abs! Swoon.

Anyway.

Friday night - The Lion King in 3D with Lacey. Then the weirdest play you will ever see in your whole life.

Saturday - fun times getting an airbrush demo at Sephora, followed by a lightsaber battle and an 80s party. Yup.

I have no idea why this picture refuses to upload the right way seeing as it's saved on my hard drive correctly but WHATEVER BLOGGER THANKS FOR SUCKING.

Today I did next to nothing. I watched a lot of TV and ordered in both of my meals which makes the grand total of times I have ordered food in to this apartment...2. Nice.
